If you’re feeling bogged

Or you’re trying to pull out a mate who’s stuck in the mud, we can get you connected with the right help.

This is what we are on about - The Article

Who We Are

Are you bogged mate? is all about helping country blokes talk about mental health and suicide while spreading awareness about depression in the bush.

Depression in the bush is a lot like getting bogged in the mud. It might have been just a sticky patch of the road or paddock where the vehicle stopped moving, maybe you needed low range or to winch yourself out. But what happens when you get properly bogged? When it’s down to the running boards, sitting on the chassis, you are not getting out of this one easily – that’s the kind of bogged we mean.

Country blokes are facing challenges like never before but it doesn’t mean you need to get stuck in the mud. There are plenty places to go to get a tow and it takes guts to admit you’re bogged. We’re making sure you’re connected with the right hands to pull you out.

Testimonials

See how Mary has changed lives

"We loved Mary's unique approach to mental health - she put things in words that over 100 farmers from our region could really relate to. The images and metaphors Mary uses are gold, the content is memorable, and people are willing to share what they learnt to help others in the community. The ripple effects of Mary's visit will stay in our community for a long time to come."

Katie
Yorke Peninsula, South Australia

"I am the mother of 3 boys and I think I’m going to be a better mother after listening to Mary. It made so much sense and I learnt a lot about communicating with men. So glad I went to this event."

Susan
Victoria

"Being rural livestock and property agents isn’t just about selling clients’ livestock and property, it’s about being part of the community, being part of clients' lives, picking their kids up from school, bringing groceries and parts out to them, being a sounding board and a listening ear for them and for many within the agricultural industry."

"It was only fitting that Mary came to present at our annual conference. Mary is approachable, and down to earth and her message was simple, relatable and informative. It resonated with our network and equipped us with a greater understanding of mental health signs, how to deal with things when it all gets too much and ways to start conversation to help another out."

"It made me realise that my husband is burnt out. So I made him go fishing with his mates to have some downtime. I can’t tell you how much your talk has changed our lives. Thank you!"

Louise
Victoria

"Absolutely loved listening to Mary at a recent men’s event I assisted at. No bull$hit & straight to the point which resonated with so many men in the room – even those who might have been dragged along! Could not recommend her more! People were talking about it for months to follow!"

Tammy
Burdekin, QLD

"I thought I was going ok but listening to Mary made me rethink things and I realised I was going through a tough spot. So I decided to go and talk to a professional and it has changed my life."

Frank
Victoria

"I’ve been going to a counsellor for several years and have found it helpful, but I got more out of Mary’s talk than I have out of all the sessions I’ve had. It’s just so practical and has made me look at things in a totally different way. Life-changing stuff."

Roger
New South Wales

"I was blown away by Mary’s talk, never heard it put so well. She has no idea how many people she is saving. She is doing God’s work that woman."

Bob
Tasmania

"Mary certainly knows blokes. Definitely not the sort of mental health talk that I was expecting at all. Just incredible! Do yourself a favour and go to one of these talks."

Dave
Queensland

"Although our event was only attended by a small number of men, all who attended were absorbed by Mary’s powerful message and the “no frills” way that she presented it. After the event, I received a message from an attendee saying that he wished that he had the message presented to him in that manner a decade ago. Thank you, Mary, for your passion in advocating for Men’s Mental Health."
